Cloudy Amber Bead Bracelet
The centrepiece of this bracelet is a black grape cluster, decked on either side with small red platelets, surrounded by amber-coloured rounded handmade glass beads. Each bead is made from scratch by a seasoned artisan from Ghana, who began her training at a very early age, as is the custom.
Krobo powder glass beads are made in vertical molds fashioned out of a special, locally dug clay. Most molds have a number of depressions, designed to hold one bead each, and each of these depressions, in turn, has a small central depression to hold the stem of a cassava leaf. Each bead and bracelet is lovingly made by seasoned Krobo or Ashanti artisans and is, therefore, unique.
