Leaf Pendant Bead Bracelet
The centrepiece of this bracelet is a gold-plated pyramidal pendant, and leaf, of Ashanti design and symbolism. Surrounded by eight large cuboid stones, four of which have the same colour palette as the Jamaican flag. There are also four intensely yellow stones, flecked with red. Each bracelet is lovingly handcrafted by a seasoned artisan who began her training at a very early age, as is the custom.
Krobo powder glass beads are made in vertical molds fashioned out of a special, locally dug clay. Most molds have a number of depressions, designed to hold one bead each, and each of these depressions, in turn, has a small central depression to hold the stem of a cassava leaf. Each bead and bracelet is lovingly made by seasoned Krobo or Ashanti artisans and is, therefore, unique.
